Hello! My name is Laura and I'm the face (just me!) behind Capstone Pattern Co., a small business striving to provide thoughtfully designed, timeless, easy-to-follow sewing patterns for modern-day makers.
I believe creating a handmade wardrobe should be a joyful and rewarding process, and want to help simplify and de-mystify the process with clearly-written instructions, easy-to-follow diagrams, and video tutorials to walk you through each step with confidence and ease.
Sewing has given me so much through the years – time to reflect, an ability to make things I love, a sense of empowerment, and a way to ground myself and connect with community. It’s served as an anchor in times of uncertainty and has been a steady friend through life’s ups and downs (+ is so fun and rewarding)! :)
Whether a beginner or intermediate sewist, it is my hope that our patterns bring you joy and inspire you to create something you love and feel proud wearing - both today and in the years to come.

The word capstone refers to a culmination of work, a great achievement, final project, or the finishing stone or top stone of a structure – a final piece, anchoring down.
Creating a garment by hand reflects a desire to do things a little differently – to slow down and apply tangible skills to make something useful and unique. Each handmade piece represents a genuine achievement, or capstone, for the maker. A tangible culmination of effort and skill found not only in the finished garment itself, but also the process of getting there – the decision to slow down & create with intention.

We want to help you make garments you truly love and feel proud wearing. Neat and tidy seam finishing can transform how you feel about your wardrobe. We believe in creating pieces that are beautiful both inside and out – trust us. it’s so worth it!
Making something by hand is a worthy pursuit.
Taking time to slow down and create something uniquely beautiful is an investment in your wellbeing. Hand made things take time and that’s okay! It doesn’t matter how long a garment takes you to complete – there is purpose and joy in the process of making.
